Marbled Godwit

The marbled godwit is a large shorebird with long, bi-colored, slightly upward curving bill. Cinnamon mottled with black above; barred below. Nests in grassy meadows near lakes and ponds in northern Midwest States and Canada. Present on Texas coast in varying numbers all year. Probes for food along shorelines and on mud flats. Shape, color and size very similar to long-billed curlews.
