"Some News, Views, & Thanks"
Well, I guess if you’re a regular reader and have gotten
this far into the magazine you have already figured out
that we pulled the trigger on the size change. Like I
announced last month; recent increases in the price of
gasoline, diesel and printing pushed us into a tough spot.
“Jerk it out; do it now.”
That was Capt. Tricia giving orders.
While trying to land an aggressive top-watered redfish, the silly thing torpedoed
her and drove the front set of treble hooks
deep into her waders below the knee.
On a
narrow,
twisting Texas
highway, somewhere between
the bayfront and his back porch, a respected
old fishing guide drives along in a trusted
pickup, pulling his boat behind him.
Early the next
morning Tommy fired
his boat up and ran to his “secret” spot.
he panicked for a moment when he
couldn’t see the red buoy that marked
his trophy but then saw it bobbing in the
waves.
It amuses me how my
fishing customers and even
some experienced fishermen and guides
react when I talk about circle hooks; they
seem totally unaware of their existence and
have little or no idea how to use them.
For many of us the summer months
mean different things when it comes
to the sport of fishing. There are those who can
only dream of clean blue prop wash, flat seas at dawn, and an endless
expanse of gulf as far as the eye can see.
